Nfl Predictive Matrix Query

This website provides an interactive tool designed to use serum or plasma measures of neurofilament light chain in patients with cerebrovascular disease to predict the likelihood of a stroke diagnosis and the probability of the timing of their stroke based on the biomarker level.

In Sanchez et al. (2021), we developed a composite data set of all available studies using serum or plasma neurofilament light chain as a biomarker for patients with acute stroke and/or chronic cerebrovascular disease. The composite dataset is available as Supplementary data associated with Sanchez et al. while the contributing studies are available as pdf by visiting: osf.io/j469n

To use the interactive tool, input a measured serum or plasma values of neurofilament light chain from a patient or research subject measured using the Quanterix® SIMOA platform. Please note, the range is limited from 5 pg/mL to 5000 pg/mL. Measured values above 5000 pg/mL should be entered as 5000 as the results will not vary above this upper limit threshold. The output will include the probability of a stroke diagnosis as well as a likelihood ratio for a stroke diagnosis. Patients/subjects with TIA may also have elevated serum/plasma neurofilament light chain values however this model cannot reliably distinguish stroke vs. TIA. This is an unvalidated research tool, clinical judgement should be utilized at all times.
